The crux of the matter is that the US oligarchs are not interested in actual capitalism but rather in crony capitalism. In which corrupt overlords pay off politicians to NOT regulate properly, so that they rip off everyone and pretend to be engaged in capitalism.

China, ok the other hand has actually harnessed the potential value of capitalism, by ring fencing it into specific arenas and regulating it, and ensuring it’s not let loose to steal excess wealth in infrastructure and similar areas where real competition is not actually possible.

It’s not slavishly worshipping markets or pretending that markets can be implemented without a strong hand of regulation, and without a clear vision of what the public interest and benefit is, of employing market-based solutions, and equally in where the public interest lies in limiting and regulating the power of markets and capital owners.

This is why the crony capitalists of the west hate China: it lays bare their lies.

It’s also why they take such great pains to attempt to to label China as “autocratic” or “communist” and why the love to bang on about “the CCP” at every turn.

Because it’s downright embarrassing to be sitting in the US or Europe, pretending to be a liberal capitalist democracy, while China blows the lie open by actually using this abstraction called “capitalist competition” the way it should be used: as a limited-use tool, employed with extensive safeguards, rather than as a blind ideology.

The problem for China is that the vast majority of Chinese in our country love it here. They see it as a crazy but fun place to study, live, and work. So, the Chinese people who now live here have no interest in going back to their oppressive homeland. Chinese American citizens are an asset to America, as they offer vivid insights into Chinese government policies.

China is not the one with problems at the moment - the US is.

I was in the US recently and shocked to see hordes of homeless people and junkies everywhere. Trashball over the place. Post offices overcrowded. Bridges and overpasses rusting and some crumbling. Good luck taking the train, and if you fly domestically it’s like taking the bus from a prison entry except far more expensive. Mobile phone coverage spotty, because each phone company had own separate network.

And this is the world’s richest country?

No that’s not “fun”. It’s a tragic tale of greed, monopoly and oligarchchy.

America is a big, powerful, diverse, confused ball of people who don’t get enough exposure to global diversity or credible education, and seem to enjoy attacking other Americans whenever their fortunes fail expectations. There are many winners in America, but the losers cry loudly and incessantly, till the masses, caritablly, give them a platform from which they decry their broken lives and blame those who thrive.

All the data from the world bank and the OECD proves that America has third world levels of inequality and social outcomes. So its a society that CREATES mostly loses. By design. Its called exploitation. America has been doing it since it was a plantation slavery nation.

Dont go looking for anyone else to blame.

Start doing something for your people. Instead of whipping them to death and blaming them.

Here in Texas, we have few of the problems that I witnessed in NYC, Boston, and Southern California. A corrupt state government creates filthy cities. In my neighborhood, life is safe and in good repair. The police are dependable and effective. I do agree with you regarding rail and air travel; it is oppressive. Greed is rife on most levels of government, but this secular environment is a symptom of more sinister powers. I'm trying to stay positive.

There is a really simple solution to the Bullying Trump Administration and the Billionaires who think they Own the World and everything on it Including Us it really is time to tell America to F*ck Off and leave them to their own corrupt devices. The Trading in the World Markets is a freedom of choice any Country can deal with whichever Country they choose too Trump has made it perfectly clear the Rest of the Worlds Nations will Suffer because He is and always will Put America First. This is perfectly fine it is entirely The POTUS decision therefore Britain Europe Canada Australia New Zealand et al should put their Populations First and approach all Members of BRICS and ask for Negotiations to become a Future Member Nation. If only! For this to happen we would need Leaders with the Courage Conviction and Integrity to make it Happen Male or Female doesn’t matter if they are Good Enough and Honest People they will be a Starter in the Future of Our World.

Thank you for your insights Ben Norton. It is patently obvious that the US cannot keep China from acquiting chips, not to mention creating their own, because the US cannot even keep Iran and North Korea from acquiting chips. It's obvious that the US is on its way out as the wold hegemon, and needs to reorient itself and get accustomed to a much fairer ultipolar world. Brics already had a larger econimic clout than the US and its allies!

It seems to be totally lost on mr thiel that you should surpass competition by selling the best products, not outright preventing competition...

People like him often openly say things you wouldn't believe you could hear in our

times.

Let's hope China can do something to free the world from usa shackles!

It seems like Russia can’t even bury its own soldiers properly.

“Here are the trucks standing there, they brought corpses on it.”

This is one of the numerous mass graves in the so-called “LDNR.” Human hands and shovels are not enough to deal with the burial of “missing persons” on such an industrial scale.
