Thank you for the succinct history lesson Ben Norton. As usual, the US has a fucked up foreign policy as concerns most devolping nations.

This brings me to the subject of immigration:

IF the USA had let the S. Americans live their lives there would not have been such mass immigration into the USA.

Now the USA doesn't like immigrants......well screw you USA because when you fall NO-ONE will be coming to your Country.

This is a brilliant editorial......thank you Ben.

Maybe we should go to Chile next?

I like to hear talk of increased sovereignty for all nations as it is the escape hatch of tyranny and poverty. Every nation to function must have some degree of sovereignty and others must respect that right.

The US sees itself as sovereign when it is a slave state to the empire's wars. Its true liberation is to repudiate wars and empire and build a better society for all. At the same, a reliable partner making positive contributions to the world community.

We are at a critical turning point in world history where there is no room for fools, buffoons, and criminal empires. Governance, especially at the international level, must be regarded as very serious business, and conducted only by the best qualified, as mature adults and free from mental disorders. It can no longer be a spectator sport run by feeble-minded geriatrics.

THANKS BEN! Your truely an honest and gifted conscientious human being. A real hero for we the peoples of this planet. It took me 65 years through bits and peices of mass media disinformation. Your research and ability to timeline all subjects affords me some light at the end of the BORG REGIME AND PUPPETS ZIONIST GENOCIDAL CORPORATE OVERLORD MICIMATT enablers. The peoples of this planet are finally awakening to the absolute pure greed, no matter the suicidal deprivation forced on all of us. Hopefully we can all come together and force change to stop the worlds millitary build up and put the money and power back in the hands we the people as real democracy intended. VIVE LA FRANCE! VIVE LA REVOLUTION!

Living well and righteously is enjoyable and makes for a positive view of life on the planet while evil is more exciting, immediiatly rewarding monetarily and emotionally. In our current world affairs the internet, the cinema and the ever present collaborating mobsters whether freelancing, in business or government and promotions from big and small business plus the allure of Hollywood

keeps that ball in the air . We, the people have to reach many, many more people, and make it more fun, more desirable to fight our sociopathic enemies. What is wrong with "white people" is it

in our DNA.

Thanks Ben, I have been hoping to see just this kind of history. Why do I keep hearing from other people on the left that the current government is treating critics very harshly? Jailing and deporting them etc. Of course there are always saboteurs sent in by the US, but these are just actual critics of government policies.

Latin American countries suffered from US invasion and colonialism fro more than 150 years.

Now we are suffering from "internal invasion", which should end up in several civil wars to fight the "national colonialists".

But for the past 25+ years the top three re-prioritized, trimmed-down deciding factors for US coups/wars/invasions/interference/occupations are obviously:

1) How great a threat countries(China, Russia, BRICS nations) pose to US hegemony/imperialism/unilateralism..

2) How much oil/gasoline(if any) a sovereign non-vassal nation sits on(see Venezuela)

3) In the case of the Middle East - how much a US-led or US-provoked invasion/coup/occupation/meddling etc will please and benefit its 51st or 1st State - Israel...

(I won't waste time or energy on Greenland - ever)
