Iran is winning the war started by Trump. This is now admitted even in the Western media. Tehran has destroyed major US military bases in West Asia, expelling American troops to Europe.
There is one Iranian objective, perhaps the biggest of all (outside of the preservation of the the Iranian State), and that is the destruction of the Zionist Terror State. Israel as it is constituted cannot be allowed to survive. I hope someday soon to see Shiite militias march into Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, joined by Hamas freedom warriors. Can you imagine? Most of the world would celebrate that.
The issue with that goal is that it is a regionally shared goal, but Iran cannot directly have that as its openly stated goal (for constitutional reasons). This is why the war is not over — and why the peace will be a different one from what The West think of as peace.
As always Ben.... thanks for the great reportage. Here are the closing lines of a blog I will be posting next week....
History has shown repeatedly that empires are ultimately seeded for self-destruction from the moment of conception. They are the embodiment of Mankind’s worst and most base instincts— to plunder, destroy, and extort from others. They are instruments of social entropy as they infantilize and barbarize cultures they take hold of like a invasive viral infection… killing the host.
Peoples of the West are in the most imminent danger because our governments have been enlisted as agents for the war mongers. We are no more than spectators to a self-inflicted civilizational collapse at the hands of traitorous insane political goons.
The true epitaph of our era might come a100 years from now when historians conclude that in spite of great legacies, abundant resources and great opportunity we could not make a go of it, which in the annals of history leaves us as victims of our corruptions and conceits.
Our template for governance is of the 19th century, beleaguered, badly rusted and toxic to the 21st century.
Ben, thanks again for an excellent report. I would like to advise both your group and your readers and viewers to inform themselves of the Abraham Accords. Here is the link to the wikipedia summary. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abraham_Accords
Taking 12 minutes to read this, the whole picture changes on Who, What and Why Iran has expanded the targets to the WA monarchies, etc. And illuminates the objectives of the belligerents.
The US brokered these accords in 2020 and the ramifications on the Geopolitical Economy are far wider and include many more players that have not been covered by any media yet.
This summary mentions even the individuals who are benefitting from the corruption on both ends of the scale.
Most importantly, it becomes clear that no negotiations are possible, therefore, the War must continue until West Asia is completely changed in character and appearance.
May the evil Wall St militarized empire fall and may humanity finally be free from these anti-Golden-Rule capitalist murderers, thieves, abusers and pedophiles. It is up to us as westerners to make it happen. We need a regime change in tne empire itself. (Not replace one billionaires' party with another but to completely remove the rich predators from power over us. https://www.pdrboston.org/why-no-rich-no-poor
I've been monitoring closely, via many 'alterantive' channels and voices - and I love how you've put the overal situation and context into one report - great job!
One little nugget to add - Iran has bought a lot of various decoys (of planes, trucks, misille launchers, boats...) from China, prior to this attack. Which not only look super real, but even produced heat - to appear on the heat based systems. So that means that a lot of the super expensive weapons US used was depleted on those. Perhaps many of those 'victorious' videos were actually capturing that...
I pray for turning of this US-Israel driven global rivalry, conflict seeking and fuelling policy into a cooperative and peaceful relations among us, humans on this beautiful planet.
Officially Europe are against USA Israel’s unprovoked illegal attack on Iran But behind the scenes they as usual support it and do what ever USA demand. Lying hypocrites
Let’s take a look at this lovely pie chart. The Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare are all financed through the sale of the US treasury bills. In 1972 Nixon signed the deal with OPEC, that all the profits form the sale of oil will be reinvested in the US treasury bills. So… in other words, closure of Hormuz voids this deal. Petro dollar is finished. The US budget is finished. Let it sink! Let it sink!
Yet the big winners in this quagmire are the MAGA oil barons and the American war and surveillance profiteers. They are raking in the loot of this war, while doing the same for all the share holders and investors in their companies (of which quite a few are politicians on both side of the isle).
I am still not convinced that Trump is as deranged, demented on death's doorstep and just out to lunch as the world hopes he is. So far he's been doing very well in enriching him and his sycophants with his reckless and seemingly irrational behaviour. His grip on the nation has not even come close to being threatened. They are just betting that the American people are too individualistic, self-centred, polarised and lacking of any charismatic leadership to organise a French style march (trucks, tractors, manure, rotten eggs, you name it) on the White House to have all those kleptocrats arrested.
Iran has proven it's dominance over the region. Both regime and population have now a common enemy, which helps suppress dissent and protests. Meanwhile, the Epclass has gotten a huge boost in their wealth, due to oil prices skyrocketing. The rest of the world leaders are too occupied and distracted just trying to keep up with policies to prevent a nuclear holocaust.
Thank you for this very good overview. What you demonstrate (unknowingly perhaps?) is that while Iran’s objectives will most likely be met, the wider objectives of the collaborating parties in this war are still not met. The likelihood that the war in the region — because this is a regional war — will continue is therefore relatively great. You might want to check my account for a reflection later this week.
I appreciate the analysis, Ben, but I think there’s an important nuance here: the fact that the US may fail to achieve its objectives does not automatically translate into a strategic victory for Iran. The regional system is far more interdependent — and fragile — than it appears.
A closure or even partial disruption of the Strait of Hormuz would not only hit Western economies. It could trigger severe secondary crises across Asia and East Africa. Countries like India are heavily exposed: they rely on Gulf energy flows, imported fertilizer, and stable shipping routes to maintain food security. A prolonged disruption could cascade into fertilizer shortages, energy shocks, and ultimately food instability for hundreds of millions of people.
In other words, there are many x‑factors here. Several plausible scenarios end up harming Iran’s regional partners — or even Iran itself — as much as the US. The geopolitical balance is not binary, and the consequences of escalation in Hormuz could be far more unpredictable than a simple “win/lose” framing suggests.
I’ve written a longer breakdown of the systemic risks tied to a Hormuz shutdown — happy to share if useful.

Music to my ears. Thanks for the summary, Ben.

Europe is still not independent from the US, this is why.
