An analysis of Donald Trump's attacks on Venezuela, the economic impact of US sanctions, and the similarities and differences with the successful Western regime-change war on Syria.
Good overview providing context that attacks on Venezuela have been conducted by both the Democratic and Republican parties. (Incidentally driving them into the arms of Chinese, Russian, and Iranian allies.) Attempting to salvage the failing U.S. empire is a bipartisan project.
The nature of neoconservatism is, to quote economist Paul Wolfowitz in 1976, “…to stick the boot of American policy so deep into conflict that no protest could ever remove it”. The nature of an economic excuse to wage eternal Vietnam wars is to “drive the economic engines of a capitalist democracy” (sic). The failures of the 1975 establishment to offset social capital in the protest movement which decimated corporate power and profit has resulted in the march towards America First and a fire-tipped political movement ensuring the profit of war industries and the single market basis of death as a life support system to capitalism which is dying by the natural processes of finite planet and finite markets.
This world as we experience it now is a result of a resurgent corporate capitalism decidedly and insidiously set against human nature and nature itself.
This is an excellent interview. However, regarding polls in the U.S. asking U.S. people whether or not the U.S. can invade Venezuela overlooks the fact that the U.S. HAS NO RIGHT TO DICTATE WHAT GOVERNMENT ANOTHER COUNTRY HAS. It is none of the U.S.'s business who the people of another country choose for their leader and the majority of the Venezuelan population (the working class) support Maduro. It has never been the U.S.'s business. All of these regime changes and wars are in the service of the capitalist oligarchy and a product of the continuation of agenda that Brian Berletic reports on so clearly. The evidence of the last 80 years is unmistakable.
It's so predictable that Venezuela and Nigeria, with their large oil reserves, would be targeted by Trump for invasion.
(Remember how the two Marines in the movie AVATAR, Sully and Quaritch, were veterans of wars in Venezuela and Nigeria, respectively? It's that predictable.)
It seems impossible that the US will ever learned from its many foreign policy blunders. Thank you Ben Norton for the precise synopsis of the sisutation in
Venezuela and the reactions of surrounding Latin American countries. What the US and certainly Doesn't need is another foreign policy blunder!
Please research on Erik Prince & his role in coups & Genocides in the past 10 years. It needs to be very, very clear that Prince does not represent USA; he is not even an employee, or appointed to any Military or any other position in the US Govt. (He is a contractor in USA to facilitate deportment, and also deploy armed militarization to all USA states, but there is nothing public that Prince has a role in US Military or US Govt. decisions).
Prince is a self-serving, wealthy, elite mercenary, in a small narrow band of far-right ultra conservative people, who are quickly trying to cause Genocide on World Democracies. At the same time, he is directly linked to World Dictators, and importantly to Russia/Putin & China. This aligns with Trump’s loyalties, also.
Despite American citizens not approving Trump’s coups/Genocides, American citizens simply do not have the tools, or authority to stop all of the World Genocides, and USA’s Congress is far too weak to stop it.
Listen to this podcast from yesterday.* Keep in mind that Erik Prince had said years ago that Maduro should be eliminated. In this podcast yesterday, he suggested Maduro’s Generals should eliminate Maduro. Calmly, as if he was talking about what is for dinner. Talking as if he had not been personally responsible for causing genocide on well over 40M innocent civilians in the pat 10 years, (e.g., preliminary PowerPoint on major Genocides Prince has created complete Genocide/concentration camp/re-education camps for).**
So, I urge investigative reporters to please do a timeline of Erik Prince’s posts, podcasts, articles, speeches, news segments (all of which are undisputed) and realize for once that Erik Prince is a mortal danger to the vast majority of World Democracies.
World Democracies must be warned to be vigilent against this. Yes, the American people don’t approve of this, but we have no tools, or authority to stop it, and our Congress is too weak.

Thanks for the excellent overview of the Venezuela situation. Here's hoping that their allies are there for them when they need help the most.
